Conscience of a Hacker

Today, I read something in my English class, called Conscience of a Hacker by The Mentor. It is a piece written to explain the hackers point of view. I enjoy reading things like this, because I like when you can clearly see what the author is thinking and feeling. The Mentor is explaining his reasons why he hacks, and tries to get others to understand him. This was a very enjoyable piece to read. If you would like to, follow the link HERE.

I Can

You can't. Those two words are the ones I've heard most often in my life. Someone was always telling me I couldn't. And for a while, I let myself believe them.  I used to dream of becoming an astronaut when I got older. Someone told me I couldn't.   I wanted to be the smartest student in my third grade class. Someone told me I couldn't. I wanted to be the best softball player that ever lived. I think you know what they said. Sometimes there were legitimate reasons as to why I couldn't do certain things. My fear of heights made my dreams of becoming an astronaut unachievable. There are always people smarter than me. I had asthma and was always sick growing up. How I Read

When I was five, I first learned to read. I hated it. My grandma would sit me down at the table, and forced me to read. I learned the alphabet and how to read before I even attended school, and I did not enjoy it. I did not learn to enjoy reading until I switched schools in fourth grade. The school I attended was Benjamin Foxen Elementary School, in Sisquoc Ca, and it was literally in the country. I had a teacher named Mrs. Adams, and she taught me to love reading. She split my class into four groups, and assigned each group a book. My group was assigned Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson.
